Riot Games will not award Rookie of the Split honors for the EU LCS summer split because of a lack of contenders, according to an article published Friday by The Shotcaller.

According to that article, none of the players in the League of Legends competition qualifies, according to Riot's rules. Fnatic bot laner Gabriël "Bwipo" Rau lost his rookie status when he played in the spring playoffs, while Ninjas in Pyjamas mid laner Emil "Larssen" Larsson hasn't played the requisite three games in the split.

Risto "SirNukesAlot" Luuri, the support player Giants Gaming signed in May, is the only player remaining in contention for the award. Because of the lacking competition, Riot will refrain from naming a Rookie of the Split.

As of now, Rookie of the Split is still set to be awarded in each of the other LCS regions.

The previous EU LCS Rookie of the Split award went to Team Vitality's mid laner Daniele "Jiizuke" di Mauro
