PaiN Gaming qualified for the first Major of the 2018-2019 Dota Pro Circuit, the Kuala Lumpur Major Tuesday.
PaiN Gaming became the first South American team to qualify for the Major after beating its sister team, PaiN X. The best-of-three qualifier match ended in a 2-0 victory for PaiN, a team which recently released its entire roster. The new roster seems to be doing well, as it stormed through the qualifiers.
The Kuala Lumpur Major will be the first Major of the Dota Pro Circuit, the annual round of Valve sponsored Minors and Majors that culminates in The International. Next year, The International 9 will be taking place in Shanghai China.
The first step to qualifying for TI9 is participating at Minors and Majors, as placing at these will earn teams points in the revamped Dota Pro Circuit system. Teams can no longer attend by a direct invite, now they need to qualify through the system, placing an increased importance on DPC tournaments.
The Kuala Lumpur Major is scheduled to take place from Nov. 9-18, where 16 Dota 2 teams from around the world will compete for a $1 million prize pool.
