ELEAGUE, will produce a one hour special of League of Legends, set to premier on Friday, Oct. 19 at 11 P.M. ET on TBS. This special is set to celebrate everything League of Legends, including its impact on esports around the world, as well as the history and culture surrounding the game.
The head of Esports for Riot Games, Chris Hopper, said in a press release, "We're excited to share an introduction to League of Legends directly with the passionate ELEAGUE community. This episode will showcase the global phenomenon of League of Legends and should serve as a great primer as we head into the 2018 World Championship Finals on Nov. 3."
The EVP & Chief Content Offer at Turner Sports, Craig Barry, said on the partnership in the release, "League of Legends has a massive, global fan base, and ELEAGUE welcomes this opportunity to both celebrate the game's passionate community and provide additional opportunities to broaden its reach to a new audience."
ELEAGUE is known for hosting major CS:GO tournaments, but has also partnered with other companies to produce content related to Overwatch, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Dota 2, Injustice 2, Rocket League and TEKKEN 7.
The League of Legends World Championship group stage started on Wednesday, Oct. 10, and will conclude on Wednesday, Oct. 17. The World Championship will conclude on Nov. 3. This special is set to build interest prior to the finals, and provide new viewers with a background and knowledge base on one of the world's premier esports titles.
