Team Envy is considering benching Kory "SEMPHIS" Friesen from the active lineup, according to sources close to the players.

Matt "Pollo" Wilson has been playing for SEMPHIS in recent practice matches and is considered the top candidate to replace him. Envy announced its new roster centered around Josh “jdm” Marzano a month ago before the start of Season 8 of ESL Pro League. Envy had not had a Counter-Strike team since late June, when the organization released its longtime roster of French/Belgian players. The current roster includes jdm, SEMPHIS, Tayler "Drone" Johnson, Steve "reltuC" Cutler, and Noah "Nifty" Francis. Making a move during the season would use one of the two allotted roster moves allowed during the Pro League season.

Since the announcement of the new roster, Envy has only one victory in ESL Pro League after 14 maps played. Their four points leave them in last place and under threat to get automatically relegated into ESEA Premier next season. Left on the schedule include matches against Cloud9, eUnited, Luminosity, and Renegades. They must finish 6th place or better to reach the offline playoffs, 9th place or better to get an invite to Season 9, or 10th-11th place to at least fight to avoid relegation.

Team Envy could not initially be reached for comment.
