Professional Fortnite player Bogdan died sometime in the night between Oct. 28 and 29, according to a TwitLonger published Sunday by his teammate, Dominik “RazZzero0o” Beckmann, who discovered his body. He was 21 years old.

In the TwitLonger, RazZzero0o, who is a member of G2 Esports' Fortnite team and partnered with Bogdan for the TwitchCon Fall Skirmish, explained the emotional whirlwind that led up to Bogdan's death.

Both players were under extreme stress to succeed at the event, hoping above all else to qualify for the finals. They finally achieved that goal Oct. 28, and were already planning how they would spend the rest of their time in the U.S. before they went to bed that night.

"After qualifying for the finals it was literally the best trip ever," RazZzero0o wrote. "We knew we already had the money back from flying over and we could just enjoy life. On the day of finals we told ourselves that whatever happens in finals it doesn't matter."

When RazZzero0o woke up the next morning, he found Bogdan dead in the bed they had shared that night.

"I only got to know him for such a short amount of time and he already secured himself a big place in my heart. I will never forget about you Bogdan. Im sorry that I was the last person he spoke too. I just wish I could change things and make him visit his family instead of spending the last minutes of his life with me."

Other players and fans have since created a petition asking Epic Games to add Bogdan's catch phrase, "Back to the lobby," as a Fortnite emote.
