No Pangolier and Virtus.pro qualified for the Dota 2 Major by taking first and second place at the CIS closed qualifiers.
The first Dota 2 team from the CIS region to qualify for the Chongqing Major was No Pangolier, a Russian team formed in October. It bested established Dota 2 teams like Gambit Esports and Virtus.pro to earn first qualifying spot. No Pangolier beat Virtus.pro 2-1 in the finals of the qualifiers, and Virtus.pro defeat Gambit Esports 2-0 to secure second place.
From the Southeast Asia region two more teams qualified for the Major. Fnatic and TNC Predator qualified through the SEA closed qualifiers.
The Chongqing Major, which StarLadder revealed would be the second Major in the 2018-2019 Dota Pro Circuit season, will start Jan. 19 and end Jan. 27.
