Epic Games vaulted six weapons and items Thursday upon the release of Fortnite Season 7. The developer also shared its philosophy about what to vault in each Fortnite patch.

The items leaving Fortnite include Shadow Stones, the Port-a-Fort, the Chiller, the Clinger, the Double Barrel Shotgun and the Shockwave Grenade.

The departure of Shadow Stones is the most straightforward of the bunch, as the item was added in Fortnite Season 6 as part of the Halloween celebration known as Fortnitemares. Now that the event has ended and been replaced by a winter theme, Shadow Stones no longer seemed thematically appropriate.

Among the other items, the Port-a-Fort is the oldest. That item arrived in Fortnite Patch 5.30, released April 11. It was likely removed because, as Epic Games explains in the Season 7 patch notes, the developer tries to limit duplicates and overlapping functionality in its items and weapons. That criteria also helps explain the removal of the Double Barrel Shotgun.

Epic Games also said it considers upcoming weapons in determining what to vault, which may suggest improvements on the remaining vaulted items could be on the way to the game.
