Dota 2 Patch 7.2, released Tuesday, is the latest major balance update since 7.20 released last November.

More than 100 Dota 2 heroes received a balance update, whether major or minor, in Patch 7.21, along with changes to items, creeps, barracks, gameplay and more.

Here are the five biggest changes in Dota 2 Patch 7.21.

Dota 2 Patch 7.21: 5 Biggest Changes

1. New Ranked Season

Dota 2 Patch 7.21 kicks off a new Ranked season. According to the release, "...all Rank Medals have been reset and players have a chance to re-calibrate. In this new season, Rank Medals now have seven star tiers instead of five, offering more rank precision and opportunities to advance. As a bonus, players in each Rank tier will gain access to new emoticons based on their rank."

2. New Seasonal Quests for Dota Plus Subscribers

For those who pay for the Dota Plus subscription, a new set of seasonal quests are now available. To find the quests, look in the Dota Plus home tab.

3. Hero Attribute Changes

As announced in the balance update, heroes will no longer gain 25 percent more benefit from primary attributes, either from items or the hero. Primary attribute growth values were increased by 15 percent to make up for the change and health per strength was changed from 18 to 20.

4. Tower and Barracks Changes

Tier 2 and Tier 3 towers and Melee Barracks each had their armor increased in Patch 7.21. Tier 2 tower armor was increased from 14 to 15, Tier 3 14 to 16, and the Barracks went from 13 to 15.

5. A Boatload of Balance Changes

Over 100 Dota 2 heroes received balance updates in the latest Dota 2 patch. Also, 28 items received a balance update as well. That should give Dota 2 players more than enough new changes to craft new strategies, determine a new meta and more.
