G2 Esports has raised $17.3 million in Series A funding, the organization announced Tuesday.
Parkwood Corporation, Seal Rock Partners and Everblue Management, the family office of G2 board member Eric Mindich, led the funding round. Other investors included Yext cofounder Brian Distelburger, Doodle founder Myke Naef, Topgolf Media President YuChiang Cheng, and New York real estate executives Al Tylis and Dan Gilbert.
Former League of Legends pro player Carlos "ocelote" Rodríguez Santiago founded G2 in 2014 and continues to serve as the company's CEO. The Spanish organization is based in Berlin, Germany, and currently fields teams in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, League of Legends, Hearthstone, Rocket League, PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS, Rainbow Six: Siege, Super Smash Bros., Call of Duty, and more titles.
The organization's CS:GO squad most recently fell at 12-14th place at the IEM Katowice Major, losing to Natus Vincere, MIBR and ENCE eSports in the Legends Stage of competition. Its League of Legends team, meanwhile, leads the League of Legends European Championship at 11-1
