Pokémon Trebuchet is absolutely the meme we don't need but probably deserve. Playing on the recently announced Pokémon Sword and Shield, Pokémon Trebuchet ups the ante by allowing the classic catch-em-all RPG series to use a counterweight to launch 90 kilogram stone projectiles up to 300 meters away.

Pokémon Trebuchet: Pokémon Meme Spoofs Sword and Shield

Pokémon Sword and Shield are the next installments in the core Pokémon RPG series, sending players to an all-new region with an all-new generation of Pokémon. But more important than all that nonsense is the meme-madness that has erupted around the naming convention.

As Pokémon games tend to feature a third, master version in each generation, fans have already decided that game's title needs to be Pokémon Trebuchet to tie in with the classic, niche meme. Fans have even created mockups for the cover on Reddit, and the idea is all over Twitter.

Whether Nintendo will hear the pleas of their most devoted fans and see reason remains to be seen. Pokémon Sword and Shield are set to release in late 2019.

Scorbunny possible evolution leak went viral on social media when fans stumbled across art that appeared to be an evolution of Scorbunny. Nintendo revealed Scorbunny as the fire-type starter for Pokémon Sword and Shield at the Pokémon Direct, but it didn't reveal any of the starters' evolutions.
