Nintendo delayed Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp on Wednesday "in light of recent world events."

"In light of recent world events, we have made the decision to delay Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp , which was originally scheduled to release on Nintendo Switch on 08/04," the company wrote on Twitter. "Please stay tuned for updates on a new release date."

The recent world events in question are likely Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which has shaken the gaming world. Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp depicts cartoonish land war, including tank warfare, and one of its factions, Blue Moon, is based on Russia and the Soviet Union. Blue Moon's leader, Olaf, is based on Soviet dictator Josef Stalin.

Several companies have pledged aid to Ukrainian humanitarian efforts, including a bundle of games sold by Itch.io that raised more than $2.5 million in 24 hours. Other companies such as Twitch and Microsoft have ceased business operations in Russia in compliance with international sanctions.
