Apex Legends data miners have uncovered what they believe to be a work-in-progress Heirloom for Wattson in the files for the game.
Data miner Garret uncovered the model early Tuesday afternoon, showing what appears to be a small handgun with a keypad, a control stick, a dial, and a screen. Another data miner, Shrugtal, also found an animation that accompanies the model that shows Wattson "sort of strokes and scratches it."
Shrugtal says the model is internally named "nessie_gadget." This would tie into Wattson's lore — she's said to be responsible for the Nessie plushes scattered around Kings Canyon — and could explain why she's so friendly with her weapon.
"It's probably both a taser and a Nessie tamagotchi that has a Nessie AI on the screen that reacts to her actions," Shrugtal theorized.
The model data miners found had no textures associated with it, so the Nessie aspects of the design have yet to be confirmed.
The latest Apex Legends event, the Evolution Collection Event, kicked off Tuesday. Although it brought plenty of new cosmetics for players to enjoy — including an Heirloom for Rampart — it likely also means it will a while before the Wattson Heirloom makes its way into the game. The best case scenario for Wattson fans would be if it arrived in the next event, but Respawn Entertainment hasn't confirmed any details.
