The term "alpha assault rifle" is one that is stumping a lot of Warzone players at the moment.

With Raven Software and co. continuing to release patch after patch in recent days, many have noticed that a weapon by the name of Assault Rifle Alpha continues to be listed with adjustments. For those wondering what is going on here, here is a breakdown of what the alpha assault rifle is in Call of Duty: Warzone Pacific.

Alpha Assault Rifle Warzone: What is it?

While there is a weapon blueprint for an AR in-game called Prototype: Alpha, that isn't quite what we're referring to here.

Something that Sledgehammer Games, Treyarch, and Infinity Ward have each long been doing with their respective weapon arsenals is that in addition to giving each firearm their fictional or historically-accurate in-game names, they also give them a codename as well.

Unfortunately, this gets confusing when they decide to refer to weapons that receive nerfs and buffs as just Assault Rifle Alpha.

As such, here is what Assault Rifle Alpha refers to in Modern Warfare, Black Ops Cold War, and Vanguard:

  • Modern Warfare (MW): Kilo 141
  • Black Ops Cold War (BOCW): XM4
  • Vanguard (VG): STG44

Knowing this, when looking at Raven's patch notes for future updates, we can tell that a "Visual Recoil" hit to the "Assault Rifle Alpha (VG)" means the STG44 got nerfed.
