A God of War live-action TV adaptation has been officially ordered by Amazon Prime Video.

Amazon Prime Video has announced that the God of War live-action series will be made in co-production with Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions. Game director Cory Barlog will serve as executive producer on the show.

The live-action series will be an adaptation of Santa Monica Studios' game series which follows Kratos in the Norse realm of Midgard. Kratos and his son Atreus will feature in the show, following the story of their journey to Midgard's highest peak to honor Faye's wish.

It was previously revealed that a number of TV shows based on PlayStation properties were in development, following HBO's The Last of Us. PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan revealed in a Q&A session at a Sony Business Briefing that more projects were on the way. A show based on Horizon Zero Dawn would be heading to Netflix, while the teased God of War show would find its home with Amazon.

The Wheel of Time’s Rafe Judkins will serve as showrunner and executive producer, with Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby as writers and executive producers. The two previosly worked on Iron Man and Children of Men.

Amazon are also working on a Fallout TV series. Set photos of the upcoming project emerged back in August.
