Animal Crossing: New Horizons' "bring one thing" question has many players, who have only just started in on their adventure, stumped from the get-go. Tom Nook's nephews Timmy and Tommy Nook ask players what of four items they would bring to a deserted island, and players want to know if the question has any bearing on the game before they make their decision.

The four options Timmy and Tommy present include a sleeping bag, a lamp, some food, and something to kill time. Because previous Animal Crossing games have presented similar questions to players that went on to shape their play experience, players want to know if the same thing will happen in New Horizons.

New Horizons knows that history, and is using the question as a joke to tease players. No matter what they choose, they'll receive all four items when they actually start the game. Timmy and Tommy are just messing with the player. That's what happens when you let your nephews run the business unsupervised.
