Animal Crossing New Horizons tombstone took the internet by storm when viewers noticed it in the latest Nintendo Direct.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is one of the most anticipated video game releases of the year. The last main entry Animal Crossing game released in 2013. A sequel has been long overdue and fans are finally getting one on the Nintendo Switch on March 20.
Nintendo has been giving fans more information leading up to the release date in Nintendo Directs. The latest one had something fans were quite perplexed to find.
Animal Crossing New Horizons Tombstone: What is it?
The Feb. 20 Nintendo Direct focused solely on Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Nintendo demonstrates new features in the entry, but one thing in particular caught fans' eyes at 22:31 in the video.
While walking in a forest area, viewers spotted a tombstone surrounded by white flowers tucked into the right corner of the screen. Fans immediately began theorizing what the tombstone might possibly signify.
Tombstones aren't a new addition to Animal Crossing, but fans refuse to believe that this specific one doesn't have some significant meaning behind it.
They'll have to wait and find out for themselves when Animal Crossing: New Horizons launches exclusively on the Nintendo Switch on March 20.
