Animal Crossing New Horizons Town Planner
By Jack O'Dwyer
Animal Crossing: New Horizons town planner is available for fans days out of the game's release date.
The Happy Island Designer tool is a fan-made browser application written by GitHub's Eugeneration team with the intention of helping those of us looking to start managing our own islands. With the game still on deck to be released, players are looking for any kind of content to help themselves prepare. After all, Nintendo did just give them a chunk of land in the digital ocean and say "Okay, have at it!"

The program can be opened in any browser window and immediately brings you to a generated island of the creator's own design. From there, you can redesign that block of land in any way you see fit.
There are tools on the left side of the screen that help you accomplish this. Eugeneration has thought of everything with six types of terrain, a road-paving system snapped to its own layer as not to disturb the terraforming below, and two sets of icons for trees and buildings. Players will have the option of using a realistic set or a traditional Animal Crossing map set.
Once you've created your island and are happy with the way it turned out, Eugeneration's program has a handy save to image function so you can file your design away until you need it. They really thought of everything, didn't they?
Players can use this in a multitude of ways from simply tracking their progress in their own islands to visualizing individual placements here and there.
At the time of writing, Happy Island Designer has 38 favorites. It was written in JavaScript by a team of nine people.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons releases for the Nintendo Switch on Mar. 20. Here's a confirmed list of villagers for the new title.
