Apex Legends' hitboxes are being distorted by Revenant's ultimate Death Totem, as the totem itself blocks bullets that appear far outside its in-game model.
Apex Legends Hitboxes Distorted by Revenant Ultimate
In a video posted to the Apex Legends subreddit Wednesday, u/kalimbor displayed how inflated the hitbox sizes for the ultimate are. Their bullets make contact with the totem far outside of its image rather than whizzing past as they should.
This distorted hitbox makes the totem more useful as cover, but because it can be destroyed by enemy fire it is more likely to serve as an inconvenient block to allied bullets.
Apex Legends has come under fire for the size of its hitboxes in the past when players discovered Wraith had the smallest hurtbox of any Legend. Gibraltar's hurtbox was shown to be 140% larger than Wraith's, evoking anger from players who viewed the discrepancy as poor game balance.
Respawn Entertainment has yet to respond to complaints about the Death Totem's hitbox. The developer did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
