The Back 4 Blood Open Beta is set to go live in the coming days, giving more players their first look at the highly anticipated zombie co-op shooter and Left 4 Dead spiritual successor from Turtle Rock Studios.

As first announced back in March, Back 4 Blood's planned summer open beta will be handing out access to players in two phases. Here's a breakdown of the Back 4 Blood Open Beta's launch times, code redemption process, and what content players will be able to try out.

Back 4 Blood Open Beta: How to Get Access

On Aug. 5 at 3 p.m. ET, the Early Access period for the Back 4 Blood Open Beta will unlock exclusively for those who gone through four methods:

  1. Preordered the game digitally (no code required, access given in game library), physically (code given on printed receipt or in email)
  2. Participated in the Back 4 Blood December Closed Alpha Test on PC (no code required, access given in Steam)
  3. Registered for online tests at Back4Blood.com (access not guaranteed, WB Games account registration required)
  4. Received a code via Twitch Drops (requires link between Twitch account and WB Games account, watch a Twitch streamer playing Back 4 Blood with drops enabled for 60 minutes during the Early Access Open Beta period)

After the Early Access period for the Back 4 Blood Open Beta closes on Aug. 9 at 3 p.m. ET, Turtle Rock will take a 2-day cooldown time before opening up beta access to all players across all platforms from Aug. 12 at 3 p.m. ET to Aug. 16 at 3 p.m. ET. (no WB Games account registration required).

The Back 4 Blood Open Beta invites players to experience "intense" four-player co‑op, competitive multiplayer as human or Ridden, and frenetic gameplay that keeps you in the action.

As shown by the open beta's promo graphic, the demo will feature two PvE campaign maps, 2 PvP Swarm Mode maps, five playable Cleaners, six playable Ridden, and access to the Fort Hope Communal Hub and all weapons/gear in the game.

Back 4 Blood is scheduled to launch on Oct. 12, 2021 for PlayStation 5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC (via Epic Games Store and Steam). The full game will also be available for free on Xbox Game Pass.
