Battalion 1944 Xbox: Is the Game Coming to Console?
Battalion 1944 is a World War 2 first-person shooter developed by Bulkhead Interactive. The game is the product of a Kickstarter from 2016, and launched in Early Access in 2018. The game's full PC release came May 23, 2019.
In Battalion 1944, two teams of five compete in different game modes and maps using a built-in FACEIT competitive system. Players can try out Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag and Domination from the jump, with a fourth game mode called Wartide available to players level 10 and higher.
Wartide implements a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive-style economy in which each player starts out with five coins with which to purchase equipment. A team earns three coins for winning a round, while losers get a bonus that grows with each loss. Players can also hand coins directly to teammates, rather than buying a gun and throwing it over.
One side is tasked with planting a bomb, and the other with protecting bomb sites, and gameplay looks a lot like CS:GO.
Players interested in trying Battalion 1944 can find it on Steam for $15. The developer promised releases on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 during the Kickstarter, and maintains those releases are coming, but no release date info is yet available.
