Eight new skins came out this week for the fourth Overwatch Anniversary event. Five of the skins are legendary, and three are epic. All three of the epic skins for the event are unlocked through weekly challenges. As always, some skins are better than other, and here is the definitive ranking of the newest batch of skins.

Best Overwatch Anniversary 2020 skins

1. Submarine Wrecking Ball

The Submarine Wrecking Ball skin is by far the best Overwatch Anniversary skin to come out in 2020. It is a new take on Hammond's hamster ball similar to the underwater Bastion seen in the "Binary" comic. The best part is Hammond as a submarine captain with a tiny hat and impressive moustache, but the propellor on the back is a very nice touch.

2. Huitzilopochtli Zenyatta

The new Huitzilopochtli Zenyatta skin is the latest addition in a line of skins modeled after deities. Huitzilopochtli is an Aztec deity of war and the sun, but it's not his first sun god skin. Zenyatta has two skins modeled after Ra, the Egyptian god of the sun. Zenyatta has a total of eight skins modeled after spirits or spiritual leaders, which makes sense considering he is a monk and spiritual leader himself.

3. Masquerade Reaper

This Reaper skin is straight out of the Masquerade comic from a while ago. The Anniversary event is usually the only time that skins inspired by the comics come out, like Casual Hanzo. Maybe next year we'll get a matching frilly purple skin for Doomfist that was featured in the same comic.

4. Little Red Ashe

The new Ashe skin is clearly inspired by the story of Little Red Riding Hood, so it's surprising to see Little Red team up with the Big Bad Wolf, still wearing grandma's dress. Ashe's dress is cute, but try not to stare at BOB for too long or you'll get nightmares.

5. Dragoon Mercy

The new Dragoon Mercy skin is ranked the lowest of the legendary skins because it is just a little lacking. It is the latest in a long line of fantastical Mercy skins that swap between good, like her fairy skin, and evil, like her devil skin. The hardcore metal and lime green draconic aesthetic of the skin is interesting, but the headpiece is overly complex and hard to read at a distance so it doesn't hold up in comparison to the others.

6. Carbon Fiber Sigma

Carbon Fiber Sigma is the best of the epic skins because the Carbon Fiber line of skins is a common favorite. It is also one of the very rare dark colored Sigma skins, which is surprising given his personality. The skin will be available during the week 1 challenge.

7. Masked Man McCree

Masked May McCree is a rather interesting choice. The colors are much lighter in this skin than his other skins, but the mask the skin is named after is barely noticeable compared to his bright white hat, but he already has a White Hat skin so the name wasn't available. The skin will be available during the week 3 challenge.

8. Fleur de Lis Widowmaker

The new Widowmaker skin is at the bottom of the list because it doesn't feel very fresh. The black and gold pattern on her pants is nice, but she has so many black, gold, and purple skins that it's hard to get excited about a new one. The skin is available during the week 2 challenge.
