Bleeding Edge Mekko is the newest fighter unveiled for Ninja Theory's new team melee game. Mekko is a dolphin that controls a mech suit from a giant fish bowl. Here's everything you need to know about this wild new fighter.

Bleeding Edge Mekko: Meet the Trash Talking Mech Dolphin

According to his biography, Mekko was born in 2045 in Hokkaido, Japan. He was held captive and tortured, turned into a biological sonic weapon. He grew to distrust and despise humans, but was rescued by the Bleeding Edge. Now he's a member of their family.

Mekko is a ranged tank with abilities that soak up damage and protect his allies. His basic attack is the Sonar Gun, and he can create shields of bubbles with Bubble Block. Blocking attacks with the Bubble Block creates Power Orbs that Mekko can use to enhance his specials.

Lifeline is an ability that lets Mekko absorb damage for an ally. The Lifeline connects to a teammate, and the Mekko will take a percentage of damage dealt to the one on the end of the Lifeline. Using it again while tethered lets Mekko pull the line back and the ally with it to get them out of danger. With a Power Orb, the target gets a shield as well.

Safety Zone marks a circle where Mekko and his allies get armor and lifesteal. With an Orb, enemies in the field have their healing reduced.

Surge is a mobility attack that knocks enemies out of the way while charging forward. With a Power Orb, Surge also heals Mekko while charging.

Mekko has two super moves, Sonic Barrage or Exclusion Bubble. Sonic Barrage deals heaving damage and knocks the enemy back, and Exclusion Bubble traps an enemy inside a bubble, where they won't be able to deal or receive damage.

Bleeding Edge is currently in closed beta, and will release March 24 for Xbox and PC.
