Blizzard Job Listing Hints at Overwatch Mobile Development

The long rumored Overwatch mobile game might be in development. The information comes via a Product Manager job listing for Blizzard specifically for a mobile project.

In the job listing description, it's mentioned that the successful candidate "will be working on multiple titles: Diablo, Overwatch, Hearthstone, and many more fantastic games." Additionally, the post read, "The Product Manager should have an understanding of mobile game development, with experience in either pre-launch or live operations." This suggests that this position will be geared towards a new game, rather than anything pre-existing.

An Overwatch mobile game has long been rumored, though in what capacity remains unclear. Whether the game will be a port or a standalone is yet to be seen. A mobile game was set to launch alongside the release of Overwatch 2, according to Dexerto. With the sequel facing numerous delays and heading towards a possible 2023 release date, it's possible that this might still be achieved.

This new job listing certainly fans the flames.

Blizzard is no stranger to developing mobile ports for some of its well-known projects. Hearthstone received a mobile version back in 2014, while Diablo Immortal is scheduled to release sometime next year. Diablo Immortal is being developed by both Blizzard and NetEase, a Chinese technology company who have partnered with Blizzard on many Chinese versions of their games.

Similarly, the recent Nvidia GeForce leak listed a Chinese version of Overwatch 2, assisted in development by NetEase. Whether the two instances are connected remains to be seen, but it's hard to ignore considering China's large market for mobile games.

Regardless, the information is purely speculation at this point. Until confirmation has come from Blizzard Entertainment, we remain in the dark regarding a mobile Overwatch game. Set your expectations accordingly.
