Call of Duty: Modern Warfare zombies concept art was shown on Instagram by Infinity Ward lead artist Aaron Beck.

Zombies, first introduced as Nazi Zombies, is a fan-favorite survival mode originally added as an Easter egg mode in Call of Duty: World at War. Zombies became a phenomenon included in multiple Treyarch titles, including the entire Black Ops franchise. Infinity Ward also tried its hand at Zombies in Infinite Warfare.

Fans were hoping the mode would return in Modern Warfare, but its absence left them unhappy and forced to potentially another year. Even more upsetting to fans, is that there seems to have been plans to include a mode.

Infinity Ward lead designer Aaron Beck showcased some concept art on Instagram of what Zombies would've looked like in Modern Warfare.

"Finally got clearance to share more art from Modern Warfare! So to begin here's an unused concept from early in production. I was thinking it would've been fun to play with the classic Call of Duty zombie gameplay, hinting here at some sort of Russian special forces soldier and his duo of quadruped robots, holding captive zombified soliders by leashes around their necks," Beck said in an Instagram post.

Zombies fans were upset to find out that, even in the slightest, artists were drawing up concepts of what the mode could've looked like if the team followed through on adding it. Infinite Warfare wasn't as popular as some of the Black Ops titles when it came to Zombies, but having something is better than nothing for die-hard fans.
