Cacnea will be featured for Pokemon GO’s Día de los Muertos Spotlight Hour—sparking questions about its shiny chance and evolved form, Cacturne.

From 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Cacnea will be appearing at an increased rate. Trainers who participate in its Spotlight Hour feature will earn twice the amount of candy per capture—making its evolved form, Cacturne, an easy addition for many. So, will shiny Cacturne be available to trainers?

Shiny Cacturne in Pokemon GO

No, Cacturne cannot be shiny in Pokemon GO. Cacnea’s shiny form has yet to appear in Pokemon GO—and the two tend to go hand-in-hand-so we can assume Cacturne likely won’t appear in-game, either. At least, not yet.

Shiny Cacturne follows suit with Cacnea. Its pale green body is tinted orange to become almost gold with burnt, sunny orange accents. Its eyes and black spotted mouth also remain the same.

Cacturne debuted with Cacnea as part of the Hoenn desert release in January 2018. It is a grass and dark-type with the following stats:

  • Maximum CP: 2598
  • Maximum HP: 157
  • Attack: 221
  • Defense: 115
  • Stamina: 172

Also known as the “Scarecrow” Pokemon, it will spend all day standing perfectly still in the sun. Once the sun goes down, however, this Pokemon becomes active and moves throughout the desert. Its PokeDex number is #332.

Cacturne is one of the few Pokemon species that displays a difference between its male and female members. Males will have a line of shrinking diamonds up the front of their body while females will have a large diamond on their midsection.

Trainers can evolve a Cacturne from Cacnea using 50 candies.
