Can Heatran be Shiny in Pokemon GO? Yes, and there will soon be an opportunity for you to catch one for yourself. Heatran was one of the many Legendary Pokemon first introduced in Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum. It is the only Steel and Fire-type and has the most double resistances (Bug, Fairy, Steel, Grass, Ice) of any Pokemon. Its shiny form isn't massively different from its standard form, but it's one of those cases where the shiny is an elevated version of the original pallet.

Shiny Heatran is bright red with bright orange spots, with gold-tinted metal accents and Magenta eyes. Admittedly this is just a saturation shifted version of the original aside from the metal and eyes but the brighter colors give the Pokemon a much more high energy look.

Heatran will be replacing Genesect in raids Aug. 21 and will appear in five-star raids until Sept. 10. Pokemon caught in raid battles have a 20% chance of being shiny so if you keep at it, you should probably find one eventually. Your best bet to win against it are Ground-type Pokemon. Ground-type moves do double super effective damage against Heatran so bringing along a Groudon, Ryperior, Flygon, or Garchomp.
