Can Pokémon follow you in Pokémon Legends: Arceus?

In Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, trainers had the ability to have their Pokémon walk alongside them in towns and routes, which ultimately had a hidden utility that was pretty beneficial for some.

Considering that Arceus is the first open-world action RPG for the series, upping the immersion to new heights, it certainly makes sense that many are wondering if they can do something similar. As such, here's a breakdown of whether or not Pokémon can follow you in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

Can Pokémon Follow You in Pokémon Legends: Arceus?

Unfortunately, despite the game allowing you release your Pokémon, it does not appear that you can have them walk and follow you around.

The decision to omit the feature is surely one that doesn't make much sense on the surface, considering Arceus is designed to be more of an open-world exploration game, focusing more on catching and learning about Pokémon rather than battling trainers.

While the following feature isn't available at launch, there is hope that Nintendo, Game Freak, and co. could add it down the line.

In Pokémon Sword and Shield, the main game didn’t allow players to walk with their Pokémon, but the feature was eventually released via DLC.
