A white owl appears in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, sitting on the message board at night if there are unread messages. It replaces the yellow and green bird that hops around during the day. Both make noises to attract attention to check the message board.

Many people have attempted to catch both the white owl and the yellow and green bird. However, like in the previous Animal Crossing games, it is impossible to catch either one with a net. Instead of catching it, players are able to snap cool photos of the white owl flying directly into the screen.

The image above was taken by u/raylolSW and posted on Reddit. By walking close to the owl to make it fly away and then running up, they were able to snap a much more zoomed in photo of the owl. But why stop with only one?

As shown in the tweet above, it is possible to have more than one white owl on the message board at a time. Similar to the birds, the number of owls increase as the number of unread messages increase. It looks like two owls at night or four birds during the day are the maximum.

If that still isn't enough owls, there is one last place to find them: Harvey's island.

At least this way you can read all the messages on your message board.
