Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the first game in the series to allow players to relocate from their original starting location, as previous entries in the series have locked players into houses. New Horizons moves players into a tent that, in theory, should be easier to relocate than a full on house. And it is, but the option isn't available from the very start of the game.

To move your tent you'll have to unlock the Resident Services building on your island. This will take about a week. Once it's available, you'll be able to talk to Tom Nook and move your tent. Doing so costs 30,000 Bells — not exactly chump change, but cheaper than the 50,000 required to move other buildings.
