Can you play Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice on Xbox Series X? With the next console generation upon us, there aren't many new exclusives to play. Many launch titles are also out for the now last-gen Xbox One, but that's also one of the Series X's strengths.

You get to play the entire backlog of Xbox One games with the performance boost the Series X provides. And what better game to dive back into than 2019's Game of the Year winner Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice?

Can You Play Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice on Xbox Series X?

Luckily, Microsoft makes it easy to play Sekiro on your shiny new Xbox Series X. If you have the game on a physical disc for Xbox One, it's as simple as popping it in to the Series X. It's backwards compatible with most Xbox One games.

Unfortunately, this won't work with the disc-less Xbox Series S for obvious reasons. Sekiro is not a smart delivery enabled game, so you won't be able to use your existing digital copy for the upgrade. You can buy the game again on the new Xbox Series X from the Microsoft store.

Sekiro was already optimized for Xbox One X, but definitely benefits from the hardware boost. If you want to give it a try, copies of the Game of the Year edition for Xbox One are reasonably priced compared to the full $60 tag the Microsoft store charges. You're out of luck if you got the Series S.
