Cyberpunk 2077 Refund Options Detailed by CDPR
By Jack O'Dwyer
Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red (CDPR) published a tweet via the game's official Twitter page on Dec. 14, offering condolences, promises, and detailing refund procedures. This comes less than a week after its long-awaited release on Dec. 10—just four days earlier.
CDPR's would-be blockbuster sci-fi action-RPG has been nothing sort of infested with bugs from the moment it launched. Players have reported encounters with nearly every type of glitch available from simple texture issues to game-breaking progression blocks. Even worse, several discovered a commonly epilepsy-inducing flashing effect during one of the game's mechanics that was seemingly left out of warnings.
The game's reception has turned so sour that even Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, got involved—replying with a screencap from one Reddit user who can only be described as an emotionally devastated fan.
Cyberpunk 2077 Refund Options
While CDPR has been quick to implement hotfixes and squash bugs where they appear, the damage has already been done. In their statement, the developers urge players to "give [them] a chance," but then offer information on how to refund a copy of Cyberpunk 2077.
the"For copies purchased digitally, please use the refund system of PSN or XBox respectively." They wrote, "For boxed versions, please first try to get a refund at the store where you bought the game."
They go on to write that if neither of those options are available nor successful, interested parties can contact them directly through their refund-specific e-mail address at helpmerefund@cdprojektred.com. Requests will be open and honored for a week through to Dec. 21.
Additionally, the bulk of the statement unveiled plans to continue updating and patching Cyberpunk 2077. According to the developers, the second round of updates will be live within the next week. Two larger patches—noted as Patch #1 and Patch #2—will be implemented in January and February, respectively. The contents of each patch will be made public ahead of their release.
Despite much of the tweet revolving around console players, PC players were mentioned in the post-script as also being recipients of these "regular updates and fixes improving the game."
