Cyberpunk 2077 Second Conflict Bug: Can it be Fixed?
By Jack O'Dwyer
Cyberpunk 2077's Second Conflict bug might be at the top of the game-breaking glitch list for this CD Projekt Red sci-fi release.
From the moment it launched, CD Projekt Red's (CDPR) action-rpg Cyberpunk 2077 was reportedly infested with issues of every nature. Simple texture errors and the occasional crashes were expected—but players had no chance to prepare for the storm that hits in the Second Conflict story mission.
Here's everything you need to know including where it appears and if it can be fixed.
Cyberpunk 2077 Second Conflict Bug: Can it be Fixed?
This bug has to do with a missing character not traveling to or appearing at the location they should be. In this case, the character is Dum Dum, and is triggered once the player takes the elevator up to Totentaz. According to players, the questlog for Second Conflict will update without issue, but Dum Dum simply won't be there.
"I've tried saving and reloading from multiple points, tried jumping back a mission and playing from there, I've tried getting up to the bug and fast traveling around." Wrote user trip9 in a post on the CDPR forums.
Several players have chimed in to express their encounter of the same problem. This doesn't seem isolated to just one console, either. Both sides of the aisle are equally affected and present on the post.
"Yep im on xbox ive tried everything from reloading to restarting. Even tried doing other quest and come back to it but no luck. The three guys at the door dont say anything but stand there." Replied another user, ChrisPnutZ25, "Its the only quest that has prevent[ed] me from progressing."
This could be the result of players "creating" an unplanned scenario that the game cannot compute, according to a revelation by PS5 user revo_zero.
"On the earlier mission with Jackie i did spare dum dum, royce AND saved brick. I own the guide and on this quest there's no scenario listed where all three survive , could be what's bugged? Doesn't know what scenario outcome to pull," They wrote.
CDPR's latest patch, Hotfix 1.05, does not address this issue. There is no listing for the Second Conflict mission within the patch notes released on Dec. 19. It does, however, mention Jackie, Brick, and Dum Dum in association with The Pickup and The Heist missions.
There has been no official word from the developers on when this will be patched.
