Overwatch Workshop master Darwin showed off the new Workshop maps on the Public Test Realm on Wednesday with his Sprint Racing game mode.

In Sprint Racing, Overwatch players play as Soldier: 76 with a modified Sprint ability. Rather than stay at one constant speed, the longer the Sprint is active, the more speed it builds. Players can accelerate far beyond the speed of anything else in the game, but they lose all their speed if they crash or stop sprinting for any reason.

The new maps, introduced in Overwatch PTR Patch 1.45, serve this game mode well. As massive blank slates on which players can stage their creations, the maps offer the longest stretch of uninterrupted flat ground in Overwatch. All that unobstructed land means players can reach speeds unheard of elsewhere in Overwatch in their races.

Darwin posted footage of the game and map to the Overwatch subreddit.

Darwin first released Sprint Racing in June 2019 as one of many creations he built during his initial burst of creativity. Since then his output has slowed considerably as he stepped away from the spotlight.
