Death Stranding monster energy is all about the obvious sponsorship.
Death Stranding is set in a bizarre post-apocalyptic world where interdimensional beings threaten our extinction and yet, has Monster Energy drink cans. On top of that, when Sam, played by Norman Reedum, takes a shower. When the shower doors close, a poster of 'Ride With Norman Reedus" can be seen. That immediately takes the gamer out of the experience and is a constant reminder of the sponsorship.

Death Stranding Monster Energy
Unlike most sponsorships which are awkwardly placed in the game as advertisements. Monster Energy drinks are used as power ups. Like the weird crytobites you eat to rest your health, Sam chugs Monster Energy to replenish his stamina.
Death Stranding is supposed to be a creative masterpiece meant to stretch the mind of gamers. So a product placement reminders players that at the end of the day, it's all about money.
