DeKay Mailbag Part 1: Possibilities for Lekr0, the Rio Major, and Possible Roster Moves

This is Part 1 of DeKay's monthly mailbag series. DeKay responses are from questions sent via Twitter regarding topics in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

From what I was told, he was contacted but discussions never materialized about him joining for whatever reason. I don’t expect it to happen.

Some players are willing to join, but plenty of them have turned down the opportunity as well. They definitely don’t have the pull they once had as a team and organization.

I would assume it was because the organization did not have anywhere near enough money to buy him. I haven’t looked into any of the fine details though to know for sure.

Given that discussions lasted as long as they did, it implies to me that he does have another offer and decided to go that route instead. Early information I’ve received seems to back that up at the moment and it seems like he will end up on a different Danish roster.

Not as many as you would usually expect following the player break. The online era has kept most rosters together because making moves right now is a huge risk. I don’t expect many moves from top teams outside of possibly FaZe.

I don’t think pros will have too much of an issue if they return from Valorant.

There will be a hit, especially below the first tier of Esports organizations. Fringe tournament organizers will struggle to stay alive and the same goes for gaming organizations that don’t have proper funding in place. Overall, I think we will be okay though.

I may be misremembering but I don’t think the next season is a promotion season given that the final slots from Season 33 haven’t been decided for Season 12 of ESL Pro League. Chaos is the best team in the upcoming season by a long shot, outside of that I’m not educated enough to say.

I’m not a 1.6 expert but I feel like his style wouldn’t have been as rewarding in that game, but I could be wrong. I would assume he will be AWPing though in that match up, to make things fun.

Your guess is as good as mine, it’s something I’ve been looking into but I haven’t received much information back on the topic just yet.

He won’t be returning. If he still wants to play, I assume it’s only a matter of time before he ends up on a Swedish roster of some kind. That entirely depends on him of course.

I believe this is the conversation Valve is currently having among themselves and likely with ESL too. I personally feel that a Major should not be played online and that we should wait as long it takes to play on LAN to have one. I don’t believe that will be in Brazil, which is unfortunate for everyone there who was excited about it.

I don’t expect any LAN events this year or if they do happen, towards the very end with a ton of precaution. The issue is that taking all the extra precaution takes extra money and resources, which is the last thing any tournament organizer wants to do. I can see FLASHPOINT making it work so that’s what I would keep an eye on personally.

As mentioned earlier, the lekr0 to MAD Lions deal never materialized despite being discussed heavily. Bubzkji has had interest from a few different places but nothing has been made final yet from what I have been told.

I think he is safe for a while longer, but eventually he’ll have run his course with upper management if things don’t improve. The length of his contract is important when it comes to that discussion, but I have no way of knowing how much longer remains on it.

I know he has been contacted a few times throughout his career but I was always told the idea doesn’t necessarily interest him. His current roster has potential to sit at the top as a tier one team themselves honestly.

That was from an interview here on DBLTAP where it was mentioned, yes. I’m not sure if xeta meant it still remains today or that was the deal way back in the day that kept most players from playing. Perhaps I can get a hold of him and find out for sure.

Not something I’ve looked into, apologies.

You would think someone would be interested in doing that, but I haven’t heard anything about it. Let’s see what happens when things return to normal.

Not really. I mean it is cool when things are intimate like that but the amount of opportunity and careers that exist now are just too special to enjoy. I love seeing how many people get to pursue their dream and passion in an area that many parents once felt was a dead end.
