Destiny 2 Update 3.1.0 Explained
By Allan Zeng
Destiny 2 Update 3.1.0 patch notes were published Tuesday with the launch of Season of the Chosen.
A new season for Destiny 2 has come, and with it, a massive new sandbox and quality of life update has been dropped. This new update, 3.1.0, makes some old destinations relevant again, fixes a multitude of bugs and issues, and makes some positive quality of life changes. Let's check out the biggest.
Destiny 2 Update 3.1.0 Explained
Reprisal of Dreaming City and Moon Loot
One of the biggest complaints about sunsetting was the loss of loot in the Dreaming City and Moon. Players felt confused at this change, as they did not understand why the locations were even in the game if the loot they gave out was irrelevant. Bungie has listened to these complaints, and so, the Reverie Dawn and Dreambane armor sets have been reissued with a higher power cap, and select guns from the location have also been reissued with an increased power cap, as well as a new perk pool.
A Third Landing Zone in Europa
Ever since Beyond Light came out, players requested a third landing zone in Eventide ruins, as players grew sick of constantly having to travel back and forth the planet to get to where they wanted. Now, with the third landing zone debuting, travel time on Europa should be cut down immensely.
Bug Fixes
Update 3.0.1 has finally fixed many bugs and issues that players have reported for a while. Such examples include audio errors where it would play too early, at the wrong encounter, or not at all. They've also fixed issues in strikes where players' progress could be blocked, such as the Insight Terminus strike where the boss would occasionally fail to teleport away, forcing players to restart the strike. These are just a few examples, as many more bugs were fixed that should make the game run more smoothly.
Raids and Dungeons
The reward structure for raids and dungeons have also been changed. For the Shattered Throne and Pit of Heresy dungeon, the rewards will be the new and reprised Dreaming city and Moon gear. Getting the reissued weapons from the dungeon also allows players to get exclusive perks on said guns that can't be unlocked anywhere else. As for raids, enhancement cores and prisms now have a chance to drop in chests. Ascendant shards are also obtainable from a weekly milestone corresponding to a specific raid.
