Does Tommy die in The Last of Us Part II? Or is there more at play with the character’s development in Naughty Dog’s Playstation 4 exclusive? Tommy Miller is a supporting character in 2013’s The Last of Us and a major player in the Last of Us Part II. He is also Joel’s younger brother, Sarah’s uncle, Maria’s husband and a former member of the Fireflies.

Tommy and Joel grew up in Texas, relying on each other and building their relationship along the way. Once reunited during events in The Last of Us, Tommy helped Joel and Ellie once they reached a power plant near a settlement in Jackson County, Wyoming, and stayed alongside the following events until the end of the game. His actions during The Last of Us Part II may contain spoilers so be warned.

Does Tommy Die in The Last of Us Part II?

In the events of TLOU2, Tommy is shot horribly during the skirmish between Abby and Ellie, and is initially presumed dead. Once the game jumps forward in time we learn that Tommy is actually still alive, albeit disfigured from the traumatic events of the past and even missing an eye. Following events see Tommy become obsessed with tracking down and hunting Abby, which puts enormous strain on his relationships as he becomes increasingly withdrawn with a singular focus. But he does look to tell Ellie the news regarding Abby’s whereabouts.
