Dragonflight: Dracthyr Evoker Mechanics
By Sarah Bergin
Players are wondering what mechanics the Dracthyr have in the newly-announced Dragonflight expansion for World of Warcraft.
In a livestream on April 19, YouTube user Bellular Warcraft composed a deep dive into the Dragonflight expansion announcement. In this, they focused on the options that a Dracthyr has as a combined race-and-class option within the game.
Here's what you need to know about a Dracthyr's mechanics.

Senior Game Designer Graham Berger stated, "We know with a dragon-themed expansion, we wanted to let you play a dragon."
That is just what they did. Berger continues to speak about how Dracthyrs have the magic of all five Dragonflights.
Kali Goss, Senior FX Artist, comments on a visual they created, the Prismatic effect. Due to this, Dracthyr's have the ability to channel their magic into any spell that they cast and, in turn, players are able to charge up a spell for maximum effects. For example, a red spell will burn your enemy when shot out of a Dracthyr's mouth.
They also focus on Specializations, which zone in on two Dragonflights. Devastation focuses primarily on red and blue magic, while Preservation uses green and bronze magic. Each color has specific properties, all of which are used in different circumstances. One will be a DPS build and one for a healer.
As a Dracthyr, players also have an ability to fly around battles and attack from above by evoking their draconic features.
The animated effects included in this expansion are sure to encapsulate the dragon-themes it exhibits.
