Drop Zone Call of Duty was teased in a recent trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's Season One Refresh.
Modern Warfare Season One was a free content drop first revealed on Dec. 2 including new maps, weapons and a battle pass. Leading the way was the return of Call of Duty 4 map Crash, one of the best maps in the franchise's history. Fans were upset to see Shipment and Vacant left out of the first drop, but rest assured they're coming in the Season One Refresh.
Additionally, it appears a game mode first introduced in Modern Warfare 3 is making a return despite being left out of any press releases.
Drop Zone Call of Duty: New Modern Warfare Game Mode Teased in Season One Refresh Trailer
The Season One Refresh trailer revealed new limited time modes were coming to Modern Warfare with a blog post naming Cranked as one of the modes. Although, it's clear in the trailer a different mode all together was teased.
At 0:39 in the video, a care package is dropped by two players defending the downed helicopter on Crash. The game's announcer says, "Drop Zone contested." What further evidence do you need?
Drop Zone was a mode previously featured in MW3 and Ghosts. It draws comparisons to Hardpoint and King of the Hill, except this time the hill is littered with killstreaks from care packages.
Despite no other announcement regarding the mode, expect Drop Zone to make a return when the Season One Refresh kicks off Wednesday on all available platforms.
