The move comes after FIFA suspended Russia (both men's and women's teams) from the 2022 FIFA World Cup set to take place in Qatar this November.
It's currently unknown if EA Sports' announcement will extend to Ultimate Team as well, or if this is simply a move for Kick Off and head-to-head modes. Fans have asked for clarification, especially for notable players like Icon goalkeeper Lev Yashin and FUT Hero Aleksandr Mostovoi.
"We will keep our communities up to date on any actions take, and thank players for their patience as we work through these updates," EA Sports said closing out its statement.
