The Prophet might be Elden Ring's most punishing class in the early game. Its starting items aren't very powerful or versatile, and although it enters the Lands Between with high Faith to boost the strength of its starter spell, that spell itself is hard to use. Here's how to take this class from zero to hero.

Elden Ring Prophet Class Guide: Stats

The Prophet is clearly presented as Elden Ring's most Faith-focused class, pointing it down the path toward Incantations. The most important stats for such a build are, in order of importance, Faith (of course), Vigor, Mind and Dexterity. If you plan to wear more than light armor, building in some Endurance can also be useful.

Ideal stats for this class would look something like this:

Vigor: 40
Mind: 40
Endurance: 25
Dexterity: 20
Intelligence: 7
Faith: 60
Arcane: 10

Elden Ring Prophet Class Guide: Weapons

The Prophet's starting weapon, the Short Spear and the Catch Flame, are some of the hardest starting attacks to use. The Short Spear can poke from decent distance, but you'll likely want to replace it with something that scales decently with Dexterity for the early game — most of the good Faith-scaling weapons don't appear until later on.

The Uchigatana is a great early option. You'll find it in the Deathtouched Catacombs.

Later on, you'll be able to replace it with the Coded Sword. That's available in Leyndell, Royal Capital, inside an abandoned horse stable. Make your way onto the roof and look for a broken round table near some double doors. Go inside and you'll find the Coded Sword waiting.

Catch Flame does decent damage, but its range is pitiful. You can get a solid replacement in the form of Flame Sling fairly early on. It will be available to purchase from Brother Corhyn in Roundtable Hold. An even more powerful option is Black Flame, which you can also purchase from Corhyn — but only after you've brought him the Godskin Prayerbook from Stormveil Castle.

To get the prayerbook, acquire a Stonesword Key and head to the Liftside Site of Grace. Make your way to the huge courtyard filled with enemy soldiers. Look for stairs heading down toward a fog gate, descend, and feed your Stonesword Key to the Imp. The room on the other side contains two chests. The left holds the Godslayer Seal, and the right the prayerbook.

That Godslayer Seal isn't a bad replacement for your starter Seal. Ultimately, you'll likely want to replace it with the Erdtree Seal. You'll find that in Volcano Manor, on a corpse between the Prison Town Church Site of Grace and the Audience Pathway Site of Grace, near Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy.

The Noble's Travelling Set is a useful set to collect, as it boosts your Mind stat. You can find it in the Altus Plateau. Travel north of the East Windmill Pasture until you see a group of women dancing around a corpse. When you pick up the item on the corpse, the women will aggro on you, but you'll be up one sweet set of clothing.
