Elder Scrolls Online Pledge of Mara: How It Works

Elder Scrolls Online's (ESO) Pledge of Mara item is currently on sale at the Crown Store. Do you have a special someone you want to rope into playing an Elder Scrolls game or are you ready to commit to that very special dungeon partner? This is the key item you'll need to solidify that bond forever.

Here's how it works.

ESO Pledge of Mara

The Pledge of Mara is usually 1000 crowns on the Crown Store. Today, however, it is 25% off making its price 750 crowns. Only one person needs to purchase the pledge in order for two characters to "get married."

To get married, both characters need to be present at the Shrine of Mara which is located in each faction's crucial cities: Vuhkel Guard and Elden Root for Aldmeri Dominion, Davon's Watch and Mournhold for Ebonheart Pact, and Daggerfall and Wayrest for Daggerfall Covenant. Equip the Pledge in your quickslot, place your cursor over your spouse-to-be, and activate it. The targeted player will then have the choice to accept or not. An accepted marriage proposal will get both characters the "Ring of Mara" ring in their inventory.

Once married, both characters will experience a 10% boost in experience gain when adventuring together in a group while wearing their rings. You both must be wearing the rings and be in a group together—in the same area—for the boost to activate.

It's important to note that this bond isn't account wide, either. It's specifically for the two characters who underwent the ritual. Once created, the rings can't be passed around. Fortunately, however, this means you can get married as many times as you want to as many other characters as you want—even on the same character.

Congratulations to all our would-be happy couples!
