EA Games announced that it will be entering a "new era" by stepping into the Formula 1 racing genre with its next title, F1 22.

Along with Codemasters, Electronic Arts (EA) will be releasing F1 22 this summer. The game will feature a collection of never before seen features from customizations to race optimization, greater immersion, and more. Players will be able to make their way through some of the biggest tracks on the 2022 calendar, including the International Autodrome for the inaugural Miami Grand Prix.

"Players will take their seats for the 2022 FIA Formula One World Championship™in new hybrid cars, as overhauled rules reimagine the race weekend with the inclusion of F1®Sprint races," the release statement reads.

Here's what you need to know about F1 22.

EA Sports F1 22 Release Date

F1 22 will release on July 1, 2022 on the PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One/Series S|X, and PC via the EA App, Origin, Steam, and Epic Store. Fans can pre-order the Champion Edition to gain access to three days of Early Access play. Those who pre-order before May 16 will gain the additional Miami content pack.

As explained above, this title will be host to several brand new features that players should find exciting. One of these is the high level of customization to both the car and the player avatar in F1 Life — "a customisable hub to show off their collection of supercars, clothing, and accessories, earned via gameplay, Podium Pass, and the in-game brand store."

"We look forward to welcoming our players to the new era of Formula 1®," said Lee Mather, F1®Senior Creative Director at Codemasters. "Alongside the real-world changes, we have updated the physics to accommodate the new aero rules and re-worked the tyre model, making the handling more true to life. With new and updated circuits, Adaptive AI, F1®Life, and expanded gameplay options, there has never been a better time for players to take their seats and live the life of an F1®driver."

Players will be able to select one of two different racing modes, Broadcast or Immersive, for a more relaxed or challenging experience, respectively. F1 22 also features PC VR support for the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive to really place players behind the wheel.
