Team Envy Valorant will be competing under the OpTic Gaming brand moving forward, the North American organization announced Thursday.

With the star-studded North American roster set to make its 2022 Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) debut at the Stage 1- Challengers NA Main Event this weekend, Envy has traded its blue for the Green Wall.

Envy Valorant Switches to OpTic Gaming Branding

After leaks of IGL Pujan "FNS" Mehta seemingly donning the "OpTic Gaming Valorant Jersey" in a store ad, a since-removed image on the Valorant Esports website showing "OPTC" in the schedule and FNS changing his in-game name to "OpTic FNS" surfaced online, it was pretty safe to assume that the Green Wall would be a main fixture of the North American Valorant scene moving forward.

The Team Envy-OpTic Gaming merger first went through last year on Nov. 8, as Hector "H3CZ" Rodriguez joined the organization’s ownership group to turn the Dallas Empire into OpTic Texas.

Although Envy has since remained the face of the org's Magic: The Gathering, Super Smash Bros. and Rocket League esports competitors, as well as their content creator house, it appears the OpTic identity will be expanding its horizons past Call of Duty and Halo Infinite after all.

As one of the region's best performers in VCT 2021, the OpTic Valorant lineup itself has had an uneventful offseason, sticking with its proven core while also having a bye to qualify for the NA Stage 1 Main Event via a Riot Games invite.

OpTic is set to kick off their group stage action against Rise on Sunday, Feb. 13, at 4 p.m. ET.

The OpTic Gaming Valorant roster for VCT 2022 remains:

  • Pujan "FNS" Mehta (IGL)
  • Victor "Victor" Wong
  • Austin "crashies" Roberts
  • Jaccob "yay" Whiteaker
  • Jimmy "Marved" Nguyen (Loan)
  • Chet "Chet" Singh (Coach)
