Epic Games responded to recent allegations by professional players about late payments. The response came just over a day after a tweet by @RepulseGod4 about a Fortnite tournament they claimed they weren't paid for, but the tweet has since been taken down.
Epic Games Responds to Pro Players Complaints of Late Prize Payments
Epic Games posted on its website about the issue and cited two major reasons for delayed prize payments to various professional players.
The first explanation was directly related to the DreamHack Anaheim event and states the delay was "due to additional California state tax withholding that required manual processing of prizes outside of the Hyperwallet system." Epic Games says the money should be deposited in the next few days.
The second reason Epic Games gave to explain the delayed payments was related to overpayment for winners of online cups "due to a clerical error" which they say has been resolved now. They state that they are "back on track to process prizes in a more timely manner."
The post also discussed changes to the Support-a-Creator system because of a transition to the HyperWallet system which is used for prize money.
