Jacky “Stewie2K” Yip will be the new IGL for Evil Geniuses CS:GO in 2022, the North American organization announced Tuesday.
The move signals the beginning of a new chapter in the professional career of Stewie2K, who had been competing for Team Liquid since December 2018.
"For the fans, I hope you guys follow me on my new adventure and my new journey with the team," Stewie2K said in the announcement video. "We can't wait to show what we can do and reveal our true potential."
After parting ways with Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz, Michał "MICHU" Müller, Owen "oBo" Schlatter, and Damian "daps" Steele in recent months, Evil Geniuses has kicked off their CS:GO roster retooling with NA veteran and former Major winner Stewie2K.
As also stated in the video, Stewie2K is set to join remaining EG members Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte and Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov, as well newly appointed head coach Damien "maLeK" Marcel at their upcoming European boot camp.
Thanks to a series of not-so-cryptic tweets from Evil Geniuses CEO Nicole LaPointe Jameson last week, the rumors regarding the rest of the roster are all but set in stone.
After three years spent apart, it appears Stewie2K will be reunited very soon with two of his two former Cloud9 teammates and fellow ELEAGUE Boston Major champs with William “RUSH” Wierzba making the move over from Complexity, and Timothy “autimatic” Ta returning to CS:GO after a year-long stint on T1 in Valorant.
Now living truly evil, The Smoke Criminal and co. will look to bring Evil Geniuses back to their winning ways starting with their official debut at the BLAST Premier Spring group stage, beginning on Jan. 30, 2022.
