Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is one of the most anticipated games of the year. The demo came out a few days ago, and the game will fully launch on Feb. 29. People would like to know the differences between the two modes: Performance and Quality (aka Graphics mode).

FF7 Rebirth: Performance vs Quality Mode Explained

Graphics mode focuses on displaying high-quality graphics at 4K resolution, capping the framerate at 30 fps. Although the graphics may look impressive, gameplay won’t be as smooth.

Gamers who want smoother combat should use the Performance mode. This setting prioritizes gameplay over graphics and maximizes the framerate to 60 fps. Performance mode sacrifices crisper imaging to create a better combat experience, displaying 1080p instead of the 4K resolution.

Reddit users who’ve tried the FF7 Rebirth free demo are voicing their opinions about the differences in graphics. Although Performance mode runs at 60fps, many players prefer Graphics mode instead. People are saying that the image quality of FF7 Rebirth’s Performance mode is unacceptable, with drastically blurrier surface textures. It’s shocking, especially when comparing Rebirth’s Performance mode to the same mode in Guerrilla Games’ Horizon Forbidden West. Players are also saying Remake looks better than Rebirth.

Another common complaint is the Quality mode’s camera. When players move it, gameplay becomes choppy. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth may get a patch to fix the issues. Some players are already opting for the PC version of the RPG.
