FIFA 20 Beta Update Rankles Community Members

A FIFA 20 beta update arrived Thursday appearing to adjust how defending in the soccer simulator functions. Though the update came as a response to community concerns over the difficulty of the game, the changes made have perturbed a vocal section of the game's community.

FIFA 20 Beta Update Appears to Buff A.I. Defenders

Many FIFA 20 players were pleasantly surprised to find Electronic Arts had listened to complaints about the previous game in the series by weakening the A.I.'s ability to defend on its own.

Another vocal section of the community complained that this change made the game too difficult, and EA appeared to listen to those complaints with Thursday's patch. Players on Reddit now report that the powerful A.I. defense has made a return, frustrating the original critics.

"Latest 'patch' on the FIFA 20 has just made the game FIFA 19 again," wrote Reddit user u/scullingtonxo. "The pace of the game is night & day. Tackles just don't stick to the defenders anymore. Had a few days of a new game & they've patched it to 'an updated version of the game' before it even releases."

EA has yet to release patch notes for the update.

FIFA 20 is scheduled to release Sept. 24.
