FNCS Invitational is the recently announced Fortnite tournament on Friday, April 24 with a huge $2 million prize pool. The invitational was announced by the Fortnite Competitive Team and will feature a structure of Solos, and a new scoring format.

Although labeled as an Invitational, the tournament will kick-off on Saturday, May 2 with an open bracket for players who are Champion Ranked, and will serve as a Last Chance Qualifier with the top 100 players advancing. The main tournament will commence the following weekend on May 9 and will include a prizing structure for each separate week, for three weekends. Serving up a grand total of four consecutive weekends on competitive Fortnite. This also means that the FNCS Invitational will run for the rest of the current season.

FNCS Invitational: Everything You Need to Know

As directed by the Fortnite Competitive Team, the tournament will feature a breakdown of players in the following format:

  • The top 100 players from Chapter 2; Season 2 PC FNCS Finals

  • The top 100 players from Chapter 2; Season 2 Console/Mobile FNCS Finals

  • The top 100 players from Chapter 2; Season 1 FNCS Finals

  • The top 100 players from Season X FNCS Finals

  • The top 100 players from May 2 LCQ

  • Up to 100 players invited directly by Epic

  • Solo play

  • Top-performing players advance to the next week of play

Under this structure, the following scoring system will be in place:

  • Victory Royale = 33 points

  • Second = 26 Points

  • Third = 22 Points

  • Eliminations = 4 points

There will be a scoring system broken down all the way to 51st-75th place where placers in this tier will each receive one point.

An official page highlighting the above point system breakdown as well as the rules of the tournament was revealed alongside the announcement, and if you are thinking of participating deserves more than a glance-over, as they are extensive.

To round out the excitement of the FNCS, the Fortnite Competitive Team also announced the Fortnite FNCS Axe of Champions will serves as the official in-game trophy of the FNCS and is exclusive to FNCS Champions. 

“Players will now be able to showcase their accomplishment -- in game --  during their reign as Champion.”

The Axe of Champions will only be available to the current FNCS champions, and will change hands once the next FNCS champions are crowned. There will be one exception to this rule; to celebrate all past and present champions, the Fortnite team will be making the Axe of Champions available to all previous champions for the duration of the upcoming FNCS Invitational. 

Once a Champion is crowned the prizing structure for the new FNCS winners will be as follows:

  • Europe Champion = $120,000

  • North America East Champion = $100,000

  • North America West Champion = $40,000
