Epic Games has announced the Fortnite Icon Series will be welcoming two new music titans to the mix: Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak—better known as the “Silk Sonic” duo.
The two Grammy-nominated R&B artists will be debuting in-game with their own set of cosmetics and a celebratory tournament in true Icon Series fashion. That’s not all, of course. What would an addition like this be without giving Silk Sonic the opportunity to broadcast their tracks to Fortnite fans? A new radio station is also on its way, playing the pair’s greatest hits.
Here’s what we know about Silk Sonic coming to Fortnite.
Fortnite Icon Series Welcomes “Silk Sonic” with Skins, Tournament, and Radio Station
Both members of the duo will be getting their own skins in the Icon Series with each having two alternative styles—essentially giving fans six appearances in one event. This “Silk Sonic Set” also includes a Sound Scepter Pickaxe that doubles as a back bling, Sonic Snare Back Bling, Boom Bap Pickaxe, and Freedom Wheels Emote.
These cosmetics will be hitting the Item Shop on Thursday, Feb. 10.
Of course, Epic has put together a tournament to earn the Silk Sonic set for those super fans who just can’t wait. The Silk Sonic Duos Cup will kick off on Monday, Feb. 7 with teams of two players facing off to prove they’re the best in their region. Each duo will play a maximum of 10 matches in three hours with the top performing teams receiving the highest rewards. Additionally, each team that earns at least eight points will receive a Silk Sonic Spray.
Lastly, fans have some new tunes to enjoy while driving across Fortnite Island. While in a vehicle, players can tune in to Icon Radio and listen songs recorded by Silk Sonic’s Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak while enjoying additional host commentary from the one and only Bootsy Collins.
